nice work

does no one listen to prog metal? Prog can have some songs sound like the least metal thing you've ever heard of (ie. Dream Theater ballads)

Good guitar work though, keep it up.

sorohanro responds:

Thanx for review, good mark and comparing my music to Dream Theater ;)

I guess there are quite a few totally uncultured people also on NG who listen just one band and think that if you don't sound like this, then you're not in style ... Bad thing that stupidity is a disease with no cure ...

cool

pretty good. I agree that you should have gone into a faster song near the end. Carol of the Bells would have worked perfectly, and it's already in a minor key, so it probably would have been pretty easy.

Nice work otherwise, mastering sounds great.

HappyHomicide responds:

I would do carol of the bells but it'd sound exactly like August Burns Red's rendition. Thanks babeh!

awesome

The phaser part near the middle sounded like symphony X. Nice shred work too, I wish I could come up with the shit you do...

Nice

Very well done cover; I just saw Iced Earth two days ago, was a fuckin amazing show.

Love this song too.

Amazing, but...

On one hand, these are easily the best metallized versions of MMX2 songs I have ever heard. On the other hand... Zero's Theme was a disappointment. Every time I hear someone do this theme, I hope to god someone manages to top Metaljonus' take on it, which, in my opinion, was absolutely amazing (like all his works). Not to say your take on it wasn't good, it was disappointing but at the same time refreshing to hear it with a clean tone with some light chorus on top, but considering the circumstances in game - Either a heroic entrance or an epic battle with Zero, depending on how you play through the game - the song is meant to be be heard with the fast, epic sound it was originally composed in.

Other than that, each song flowed into the other amazingly well, and your take on Flame Stag's stage was even better, in my opinion, to Darkside555's take, also amazing.

Keep it up with the MMX music, and maybe do something from the first game, because there was some damn amazing shit in that game too. Sorry if it seems I'm comparing you too much to other artists on NG, but considering how rarely I even write a review for music (and animations) at all, consider this a huge compliment. Keep it up.

surprising

Probably the best midi metal I've ever heard. Now do it with real guitars and I'll give you a perfect score. Still give you a 5, but only because I want your score to go up.

Do more shit like this. It's amazing.

hmm...

This sounds like it was ripped straight from a commercial on G4...

If I'm wrong, I apologize, but I seriously think that this is plagiarized, top list or not.

I agree with Idiosyncratic

...the bells were out of place, or would have been in a better place if they were in key with the rest of the song.

but, I've loved this guitar synth ever since I first heard Guitar vs. Piano, so don't change that. :)

nice

Thunder sounds were a nice touch.
nice organ grinder style sound near the end. :D

DarkLink2000 responds:

I thought people would like the thunder. With this one, I tried to stay relatively close to the instruments originally used in the game. This song really is a classic.

Not Bad

some background sounds were a little too loud, but otherwise it's an interesting take on the song.

My favorite RPG, can't wait for the new one :D

ShadowBowserTrx responds:

You mean the piano beginning at 1:02 right? I once again listened to the original and it's really a little bit to loud. But Thx for your review and can't wait for the new one too!
